If you are going to be going for a polished recording there are many things that work live that need to be polished up in the studio. One of these things in many songs is not tapping your left foot on the hi-hat during parts where the drums drop out. The engineer may even want you to nix it during the parts where you are playing beats as well. It is a good idea to discuss this beforehand so you can get used to it, since some drummers have trouble breaking the habit in the studio.
