Use The Fletcher-Munson Curve To Help Your Mixes

Have you met the Fletcher-Munson Curve? If not, it is one of the simplest pieces of tech jargon to help your mixes. What the curve illustrates is the point at which point your hearing starts to develop an even frequency response. The volume where this even frequency response occours is 82 db. Many of the top mixers use this knowledge and turn their monitor level to 82 db, so they judge their mixes in the optimal way. Coincidentally it is a nice manageable volume to listen back to music at. Through the use of an SPL Meter you can measure the sound coming from your monitors and make sure you are listening to your mixes at 82 db.
