Use Larger Crash Cymbals For More Consistent Tone

cymbals.jpg

Do you use your crash cymbal as a ride and bash it out with 8th notes non-stop? Are you never happy with the tone of it? Perhaps it is because you aren’t using big enough cymbals. Crash cymbals smaller then 18″ tend to not have the sustain and tone to keep a consistent note and fluctuate in the highs too much to keep a good solid sound. Especially during recording, 16″ or less crash cymbals tend to fail to have the tone to work well for anything aside from accent shots. If you are wondering why Grohl, Bonham and Barker sound so fierce when they ride on a Crash cymbal, you can start there, and then get the skills to be them.

Well, I must say that crash cymbals tend to fail to have the tone to work well for anything aside from accent shots.

Grohl, Bonham and Barker sound so fierce when they ride on a Crash cymbal, really, and I did not know why before. Thank you for the information.
