Pro Tools Tip Of The Day: Protect Your iLok

If there is anything I have learned over the years about iLoks is they are delicate devices. I have 4 of them associated with my account that bounce between all of the studios computers and all of my employees homes. Over the years I have had two of them fail just from normal handling. This taught me the lesson to keep the ones that move from computer to computer safe. As you can see in the pictures above, I have used some spare foam and a short USB cable to avoid wear and tear on these fragile devices. The pains you go through when an iLok fails are no fun, so doing everything to avoid them is advised. Take two minutes grab some foam and go to your local computer store and get a mini USB cable for them.
