Making The Chorus Bigger: Make It Wider

wide load.jpg

In our new series Making The Chorus Bigger we will examine numerous
ways to get your chorus to get to the size you want it to be. We will
examine the many tricks that can be utilized to make this happen.

One of the tricks I have been hearing on many records lately is to make the chorus wider. You can do this one of two ways, by making your panning in the verses a little narrow, perhaps the pans on the widest elements are at 4 and 8 o’clock on your pans. When the chorus kicks in the pans go fully wide. The other technique is to put a stereo enhancer on in the chorus and make the chorus extra wide. Synth pads can be great to use these stereo enhancing effects on.
