Sometimes tuning your guitar frantically in the middle of a show can be an anxiety-ridden nightmare. Everyone is watching, the drummer is waiting on you and the damn guitar just won’t seem to stay in tune. Sometimes even your tuner works against you… or does it? Sometimes what you think is the tuner or your guitar malfunctioning is actually you. Make sure to turn off all other effects (especially modulation effects) when tuning because it can drive your tuner crazy and you’ll never be able to get a straight tuning that is dead on. This is easiest to forget in a live situation. Just remember that if your guitar is acting funny during tuning you should check the pedals you might have on at the same time.
