How To Prevent Data Loss

burnt DVd.jpgAs we told you, It’s Musformation Data Loss Prevention Week! So now that I have filled you with the fear of the wrath of the Data Loss gods, what do you do to prevent Data loss from occurring?

1. Make a system. Everyday you will have a routine at the end of day of backing up your DATA to an external format. THERE CANNOT BE AN EXCEPTION TO THIS!
2. Learn the file structure of your computer. It is very important that you are able to find your files to back them up and know you are saving them to the proper place.
3. LEARN PROPER FILE MAINTENANCE. Knowing how to consolidate, manage and delete files within the programs you use is of the utmost importance. If you are not consolidating files and deleting files you are wasting valuable hard disk space. Backing up a 30 GB file that could be 2 GBs will waste both time and money.
