Hi, I would like to know what’s the best way to expand our fanbase through social media, specifically facebook. Could you recommend websites that write song/album reviews or do music promotion? Thanks in advance.

      Hey Ari,

Question #1. If you could let me know where you are currently at with Facebook or link me to your music on there I could be more helpful, the question is a little vague.

#2. Most review sites that take submissions from anyone aren’t worth your time. Instead you want to target other similar groups and submit your music to blogs with a specific audience in your genre who would be interested in you. Find a dozen groups who are somewhat known but not huge that are similar to you (you could find these by searching Bandcamp) then once you have a list add all of these targets to mention (more on the service here http://musformation.com/now-that-google-alerts-miss-everything-use-mentions-fantastic-service/) as you see blogs and sites write about these groups, submit your music to them. Keep adding more targets and checking Mention everyday and over time you will keep finding more sources who are likely to write about you. If you steadily submit your music to them you should get some coverage.

Awesome! , here’s the link to our FB page http://www.facebook.com/DoonBand , we’ve been live for only a month so there’s not much to see but take a look and if you have some recommendations please I’m all ears. And thanks for the answer to the second question, that’s really valuable info. You guys are amazing.

          Ari,

Checked out your page First off the music sounds real cool and done well, you guys should definitely be able to get some traction with some hard work.

HEre are a few things I would do.
          1. Put a like Gate on the third track on your player, if someone gets that far and hasn’t liked you yet, odds are they will be happy to.
          2. Sign up for Dropify and trade some downloads of your EP for Facebook Likes. Do this from a website and a tab on your facebook.
          3. As you get good reviews, be sure to post a quote from them and drop $25 on promoting that post on Facebook.
          Good luck!
