How Can We Help? 11/27/13

Wanna get your DIY music promotions questions answered and promote your music? Do you have questions about promoting your music or building a fanbase? Leave it in the comments and we promise to get back to you or even write a post featuring you that answers your question. If we think your question would benefit our readers we’ll post a YouTube video of your song on top of a post that answers your question. No matter what, you will get an answer this week as long as you leave an email address (so we can let you know when we answer your question) and a YouTube URL for your video. All we ask in return is that if we answer your question, please help us spread the word about our book, Get More Fans: The DIY Guide To The New Music Business.

Hi Jesse – I was wondering what the fastest way to find your optimum target audience (outside of my existing friendship / fanbase) – is there a good market research type platform to narrow your target? It seems easy if you sound similar to someone popular, but if your music spans genres it can be a little harder to find the right audience in the initial stages… Been getting a great deal out of your book! – they should teach this in higher music ed! My band Fairmount from Philadelphia, PA has just released a music video for our first single “Walls” and we want to continue as a DIY band but feel as though we’ve exhausted our immediate internet following. I’d like to find out some tips on how to push through the initial slump of likes on Facebook and Twitter slowing down. If you could feature us/our video as well that would be awesome!
