Spotify is blowing up! Music Machinery has reported that Spotify now boasts the following statistics:
- Total tracks: 3,586,179
- Total albums: 319,106
- Total artists: 264,461
- Over 1 million subscribers!
This is quite impressive, even though the service is not yet available in America (there are ways around this if interested, use The Google) it can be a great way to get your music out to the masses. If you are not familiar with Spotify, it is a ad-supported music subscription service. Many of the majors have signed contracts with the service, despite it still being a controversial venture in some people’s eyes. Commenter Lesley hipped us to a site called DittoMusic.com that will get an unsigned band’s music on to Spotify, for free! They also offer services for getting your music on charts, licensing deals and the ability to get your music on to sites like iTunes and Amazon.
