Chiodos Admit To Hacking

It is often said that a lot of the biggest bands in music got successful because they got exposure from some marketing hack at the right time. In the digital age this more than ever actually means computer hacking or sometimes finding the new trending website and becoming a leader on it. Alternative Press has a really great article where Chiodos admit they got a lot of their start from hacking PureVolume, which got them noticed by their first record company and led them to the success they have today.

This got me thinking about some of today’s hacks and what if anything is the PureVolume of today where labels go to look at a chart of what unsigned bands are making moves? Is there still such a thing?
