Behind The Video – The Delorentos Go For Something More And Are Rewarded In Plays

Music videos are one of the most important promotional tools in promoting your music. At Musformation we are always trying to explain the secrets behind what goes into making a video that helps a band pick up more fans and get noticed. In our series Behind The Video we will be exploring what goes into a great music video straight from our readers experiences. If you would like to be featured in this series please send us your video and an explanation of the techniques, ideas and execution that helped make it successful for you.

Our first feature is from the band Delorentos, after the jump they will explain how they learned from their past video experiences and stepped up their video game and saw great results from the above video.

“We made various videos for previous singles to varying success, and never really paid enormous amounts for them (or had the money to do so!). All these videos used a similar formula, shots of the band playing or hanging around indispersed with a storyline or narrative. Often we asked our wonderfully talented friends to help or make them and we loved them for their efforts.
For our new album we decided to do things differently, so our first single “Secret” we asked a talented local director to work on it, and he decided to avoid the band playing-in-a-room idea. It’s got more hits in five months than any of our other videos did in 3 years.
To follow this on, with our new single we asked an animator to create a mini-film to run alongside the music – instead of the usual band  playing theme – and it’s just been chosen as a featured video in Ireland.”
