Bandcamp Will Now Be Reporting Sales To Soundscan

If you have never met Bandcamp before, they are an awesome site where you can promote your music. It has numerous features such as:

  • Sell your music with liner notes, album art, and extensive song notes
  • A great sounding music player
  • Various different download formats (MP3, Wav, etc.)
  • Variable pricing methods
  • Extensive stats
  • The ability to choose different pricing methods on each track

They now have exciting news for bands looking to sell their music and make a presence in the music industry. Their sales will now be tracked by Nielsen Soundscan, so they will be appearing in Billboards charts. From their press release:

“Sales on Bandcamp will soon be reported to Nielsen SoundScan, the
company behind the Billboard charts. Before we can start submitting
weekly stats, however, we need you to please add your UPC codes to your
albums, and ISRC codes to your tracks.”
