Bad Promotion Idea: Putting Your Music On Someone Else’s YouTube Video

I have been noticing a trend lately. Some not so bright minds have been heading over to YouTube ripping the video of a popular song and then putting their song song on as the audio track and annotating it with their Myspace/iTunes link. Clever? Yes! Bad idea? Def! Not only is this a defamation lawsuit waiting to happen, it also makes the listener pissed off. Even if they had the potential to like your song they are now angry at the YouTube system failing them and not in a good mindset to enjoy your music.
