Another Crowd Sourcing Site For You: 100,000 Fans

MyBandStock, SellABand, and now 100,000 Fans are all trying to usher in a New Music Model. If you are a fan or a band and are tired of Major Labels deciding who gets the funding for their record instead of 40-year-old-pony-tailed A&R Reps, these are the sites you should be involved in. Right now, 100,000 Fans is in Beta, however you can submit bands they should work with and sign up to be a part of it upon launching. I will allow the site to explain what they are about below:

“100,000 Fans is bringing back the label of days gone by and we need
your help. If you are one of those super fans of music that’s constantly
searching for the next big artist, YOU are our A&R department. We
want to know who your favorite unsigned bands are…100,000
Fans is a place where today’s tastemakers can let the world know when
they’ve found a great new artist. If they make the cut, we’ll add them
to the website and notify members through our weekly newsletter
that our army of super fans found someone worth talking about. We’ll
make their current recordings available for a $2-10 donation to members.
Once your submitted band reaches 20,000 downloads, we’ll approach them
about a recording deal and help them grow to 100,000 fans…Once the band has proven that they have what
it takes to get to 100,000 Fans, we’ll put together a team and get to
work on getting new material recorded and promoting them them to fans
in a smart way. You’ll get to follow and be involved in their career
as they grow. After all, you’re one of the 100,000 fans that helped them
get noticed!”
