wearingtwittert.jpgPosting your music to Twitter becomes more and more important everyday in order to reach and update your fans on what you are doing. Thankfully SoundCloud has brought us all a way to do it that gets streaming out of the ghetto of Myspace quality streams. In fact SoundCloud sounds pretty amazing since you can upload .wav files instead of nasty low bit rate Mp3s. If that weren't enough you can place a link of where to watch the video of your song and where to buy your song! Follow me to the jump and I will show you how to let the world of Twitter hear your songs in a great sounding audio stream that can help promote your music.
First let's sign up for SoundCloud. If you haven't done that yet, it takes one second to do. Once you are in there find the button that says upload and send. Find your track on your hard drive and upload it just like you would any other site. Next is where it get's fun!

Above is the form to fill out while we wait for your awesome sounding high quality file to upload. I decided to upload a remix I did of Kenika's song "Why You All On My Myspace?". One of the best things about SoundCould is you are able to make your songs very friendly to people who do remixes if that is your thing. You can add the BPM and Key so that DJ's are able to find your songs for easy addition to sets and mixes. You can then tag your music so that people browsing SoundCloud can find your music easily. If that weren't enough, you can easily link your preferred place to sell your music and the place someone can watch the video if you have one. The last thing you need to do is decide if it is for private or public consumption. Then choose whether you would like it downloadable or not. Once all of this is done, make sure you hit the save button or it is all for naught.

Once your song is uploaded it will take a second for the waveform to load. Once it is done click the share button and choose Twitter (you need to have enable pop-up windows for this to work).

Once you select this you will sign in to Twitter and it will post a message that looks like this:
soundcloudtwitter.pngYou can alter this message all you want (I would suggest not altering the URL though) and share it with all of your Twitter followers. Keep in mind you can also share it via email, Myspace, Facebook or embed it on any of your websites like many artists have been doing lately.  Have fun posting tracks that aren't ruined by Myspace's nasty music player and spreading good sounding tunes!
