Pro Tools Tip Of The Day: How To Eject A Drive Without Quitting Pro Tools
I was shocked this week to see a long time Pro Tools engineer friend of mine quit PT in order to eject a drive. As many of you know, if you click on a drive and try to eject it from the desktop while Pro Tools is running it will tell you that you cannot eject the drive because it is in use by another application. One simple trick that is not explained very well in the manual will save you this pain. Simply click under the Window menu and choose Workspace. Next highlight the drive you wish to choose and then go under the downward facing error on the right hand side (left hand pre-Pro Tools 8) and click Unmount. Wait one second and your drive is now ejected.
