The first thing to realize is even though we all want to find our musical soulmate and you feel like no one is like you, you are right. For now! Musicians grow together when they hang out. You may start out with one or two common influences but over time you share music and tips together and you grow to be better musicians and be more alike taste-wise. It is rare to find someone who you gel with on day one, but all the more common is to find someone who is close and take it from there
The second consideration is most musicians don't have as high standards as you would think. A lot of people (especially musicians who aren't songwriters themselves) are happy to play in a wide variety of bands. Many people just want to have fun or be with a band at their pace. Not everyone is looking for a band that has a hard work either or a lack of one. People want many different things from a band. Some want to work fast to have a career and some just want to get away from their significant other a few nights a week. Most fall somewhere in between. Never underestimate the fact that though you may not be a total match for each other, the water will rise to the level of what is demanded (or not go with your gut feeling, but don't shoot anyone down that is 75% of the way there). Be open minded to new situations and don't nitpick too hard, since like a shoe most situations grow into the fit.
