As if ReverbNation hadn't made enough news this week. They have also announced that their new ad supported music campaign has gone into effect. Calling it "Sponsored Songs" 1,000 artists on the ReverbNation network will be making their tracks available for download for free. In exchange for the free downloads Microsoft Windows has sponsored the songs. All the listener has to do is go
to a website with a bunch of Microsoft ads all over (thankfully it isn't those annoying girls deciding to buy a PC instead of a Mac), which I must say is a pretty great, not annoying interface. You download the track and what you see to the left here is what you get with the track. A tiny advertisement below the album cover. That was painless wasn't it? There are tons of big name bands like Poison the Well, Underoath, The Lemonheads, and Warren G on the site that you can download. As for the artists, this is a great way to promote their new songs and get paid while doing so.
