Rant & Rave: The Wavves Meltdown

Music punditry is a nasty world, second only to political punditry. That said, we like to think of Musformation as a positive place. In this new feature we will sometimes get a little negative and complain but will try to find something positive to give you at the end, so we don't contribute to the ever growing music business complaint factory.

We have all heard about how the dude from Wavves broke down at some Euro festival. Now, we have all been forced to hear rants about how "the music business broke him" or "the rigorous grind of this business brings an artist to their knees." If this was a band on a Miley/Brittany cycle of non-stop promotion I would give this a little cred to this argument and I am not saying constant touring doesn't mess with your mind and sleep. Though all of this is irrelevant since the guy admitted he was "Mixing ecstasy Valium and Xanax before having to play in front of thousands of people." I don't know about you guys but I may have been near a cocktail similar to that at some point in my life and it can pretty easily cause you to freak the f*ck out. Blaming the tough schedule of touring for this freak out is a bit misplaced. Let's call it what it is, a young person learning not to take a ton of drugs in front of a large audience when they are stressed out. Stress or no stress that cocktail isn't going to make you walk on stage and act normal.

With that said, how exciting is it that one person that records in a bedroom through Garageband is getting this much attention?
