Use Gigpay For What It's Good For

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks
gigpay.jpgFor those of you not familiar, GigPay is an escrow service for promoters/bands. If you don't understand the escrow concept, the promoter puts money into GigPay upon booking you, once you complete your set, fulfilling your obligation, the service releases the money into your account. While some people dismiss this service since it takes a fee and isn't fun to set up for every single show. It is great for when you get that feeling in your stomach that a promoter may not pay. As well, more and more bands get propositioned to do odd gigs like sweet 16s, corporate parties, weddings etc. with inexperienced promoters. This service can help ensure that the incompetent promoter your are working with doesn't stunt your bands growth.

what? are they paying you or something?

who do you think is reading this blog?
maroon 5?

any venue under 1000 cap would laugh in your face if you asked them to put your piddling fee in an escrow account.

If you read I recommended this for people who are weary of getting paid by things like "sweet 16s, corporate parties, weddings etc. with inexperienced promoters." Which is becoming more and more common.

No one paid us - I received an endorsement from a friend who plays many odd gigs. I stand by my claim that this is good for what I listed it for, aka not venues.
