Some vocalists learn a dozen tricks and trills to make them unique (Jeff Buckley being one example of such an acrobatic singer), but Rufus Wainwright has always had one (seemingly) simple trick: vibrato. Not only was Rufus gifted with a booming voice that seems to fill up any room, his mastery of vibrato is stunning. He uses it nearly every song and one has to imagine that at this point, he does it simply out of habit rather than on purpose (as do many people who use the technique). Above is Rufus performing the appropriately titled "Vibrate", where even live his incredible vibrato stands out magnificently (even when he playfully misses the last extended one).
