We now have a Facebook profile! We know how to get back to it! Now we gotta figure out how to work it! In this post we will discuss some of the features of a Band Page and how a Facebook page for your band is different then having a Facebook group.
This Is Not A Facebook Group
Some people looked at me a little crossed in the last article since they have already made a Facebook Group for their band. A Facebook Group does not have half the potential a band profile does, it is very important that if you have a Facebook group you link it to your new Band Page.

Let's Get It Started
So the first thing to set up is the admin permissions. On your page, right below your picture, you will need to click "Edit Admins". You will now be able to choose any of your Facebook friends to be able to edit this page. Hopefully, you are friends with your bandmates so you can add them to this.

There are a whole lot of features familiar to everyone who has used Facebook for their personal life. It is very easy to upload photo albums, update your status, add events (AKA your upcoming shows or recording sessions).

Lift Off
This is not Myspace! Facebook is very protective of it's users (except for letting all your fat friends from high school post about eating donuts six times a day). There is no one to protect you from that! The first thing you need to do to get this page really going is publish it. OTHERWISE IT DOES NOT EXIST TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD! This is accomplished by clicking under your profile picture on "Edit Pages". Next, click the little pen on the box for "Settings", then click "Edit". You now now must choose "Published (publicly visible)" in order for your profile to be visible to the world, otherwise even if your fans search for you, they will not find you.

The Music
In order to use Facebook's music player you need to verify that you are the person who owns your music. In order for you to do this you must VERIFY YOUR PAGE. Under the settings box we were just on click edit on the Music Player. Up top you will see a tab that says "Verify Your Page". You can take a picture of your license with your iPhone, scan a passport, provide them some sort of ID, so they are not the ones getting sued if you upload someone else's copyrighted music. After that, you get to wait two whole days for verification! In the mean time go write the song that will define your generation or something.

In The Mean Time
There is plenty of stuff for you to fill out, such as Discography, Contact Info (booking, manager, etc.), Concert Dates, Biography etc. MAKE SURE YOU LINK ALL YOUR OTHER SITES (Twitter, Myspace, etc.)!

Two Days Later
Go back to the same exact screen where we went to verify your music. If you forget how to get back to your page, go read Part 1 of this series again. Before you upload music to Facebook, make sure you know all the facts about getting great sounds on to your Facebook page by reading this article. Now you will be asked to to "Add A Track" and this is where you will upload your music. In order to use Facebook to upload your music, you need to have your music in MP3 form and in a file under 15 MB. Make sure you have a link to buy it on either Amazon or iTunes ready, since once the upload is done it will ask for it.

Other Music Options
Both Last.FM and iLike will allow you to make playlists where you can add your own music. This will allow you to get your music easily shared by other Facebooks users. It may seem redundant to have your music up on your site 3 times, but the sharing facilities are one of the few ways to get your music around on Facebook.

Next time we will discuss some advanced methods of sharing your music on Facebook!

Please, can you explain how to create a url such as www.facebook.com/metallica or so? Let's say my band is called bucketheads and I want to create my www.facebook/com/bucketheads page, I can't figure out how to do it. When I create the page I only get wwww.facebook.com/pages/somestrangeurl

...click edit on the Music Player. Up top you will see a tab that says "Verify Your Page". This tab does't show up on ours the only two tabs are "profile" and "additional Permissions"

I have the same problem with MusicPlayer. Can't find a 'verify' tab either.

I have had a music page linked to my Facebook before. Don't know if this means I'm already verfied? FB allowed me to upload my music though. I just can't see it anywhere on the page!

Any thoughts?

Michael, if you go to your main page for your band, you can click on your 'boxes' area and you should see your music player. From there you have the option to move it to your wall and it should appear there.
