Do you often have the problem of a drummer cramping your Drum Micing style with
cymbals being to close to his drums? About a decade ago, I figured out how to never worry about this problem again. I unscrewed a Shure SM 57, bent it at a 90 degree angle and affixed some gaffers tape to keep it in place. Since then I have had the easiest time micing Snare Drums, Hi-Hats, and Toms with 57's anytime I need to! There is no change in the sound or added noise, just hours of your life saved getting your mic under a Hi-Hat. Go to the jump to see how to do it!
Step 1. Get a Shure SM 57 and some Gaffers Tape

Step 2. Grab your SM 57 and unscrew it

Step 3. Angle Your SM57 capsule at 90 Degrees to the body.

Step 4. Grab some gaffers tape and wrap it nice and thick around the SM 57

Step 5. Start micing your drums with a greater ease
